Becoming a partner
A religious congregation becomes a partner in Mercy Partners when its application to transfer a ministry is approved by the Mercy Partners Council.
Our founders were the Queensland congregations of the Sisters of Mercy, but a congregation does not have to belong to the Sisters of Mercy to apply to transfer a ministry to us, nor does it have to be based in Queensland. Any religious congregation or other PJP may apply to transfer a ministry to Mercy Partners, provided the ministry is incorporated in civil law.
A congregation may decide to transfer all, some, or only one ministry. Each ministry is assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Please contact us for more information about eligibility criteria.
After transfer, the ministry relates to Mercy Partners as its canonical sponsor rather than to its founding congregation (see Being a partner). Through its canonical and civil governance mechanisms Mercy Partners and the ministry will work together to ensure the future success of the ministry.
