Mercy Partners, while founded by the Sisters of Mercy Congregations in Queensland, has welcomed ministries from the Queensland Congregation of the Society of Australian Congregations of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and is open to sponsoring ministries established by other public juridic persons.
We see Mercy Partners as a ‘communion of charisims' where ministries are encouraged to work together, offering their unique gifts to the mission of Jesus.
Significance of the term 'partners'
The term 'partners' is new in the official language of the Catholic Church. It is a term for new times, new forms of mercy, new ways of being Church. It draws its inspiration from the God who said, 'See, I am doing a new thing', and from Jesus who taught about the necessity for new wine skins for new wine. The name 'Mercy Partners' was chosen deliberately to indicate that this entity was giving priority to partnerships in mercy.
At Mercy Partners we are open to seeking others, and to being sought by others, so that we might better cooperate in living mercy. The word partners implies that our structures are flexible; that our projects are not proscribed; and that our minds and hearts are disposed to recognise and accept the gifts of others.
