Caring for our Common Home
From September 1 to October 4, Christians around the world unite to pray and care for creation.
Pope Francis has declared September 1 as the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation. He says, ‘This month I make a special request: that we may take good care of creation – a gift freely given’.

May the gift of fire
Burn and cleanse us and enlighten us to embrace the new.
May we be enflamed with love for all of creation.
May the blessing of water refresh our Earth as life-giving rain.
May our work together bring to life the hopes and dreams that ebb and flow within our hearts and the deep yearnings of all life forms on our planet.
May the fidelity of earth, our most ancient mother
Fill us with hope as we watch the seasons come and go.
May the gift of air shared by all
Remind us of our common home on Earth and our common source of life.
As the spirit breaths in our midst may we know the inspiration of our shared sacred story
and our lively hope for the future.
