St Rita's College
St Rita's College Ltd is a Catholic day school located in Brisbane's inner-north. It offers education to girls and young women from Year 7 to Year 12.
History of the ministry
St Rita’s was established by the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in 1926 and is built on the traditional lands of the Turrbul and Jagera peoples. The College was named after St Rita of Cascia, who had been canonised twenty-six years earlier in 1900.
The school was initially a co-educational boarding and day school for students up to Grade 3 and catered for girls only from Grade 4 to Grade 12.
Today, St Rita’s is a modern school with a rich tradition in academic and sporting distinction, cultural diversity and commitment to social justice. Students are encouraged to continue in the Presentation tradition and live the College motto ‘Action not Words’ by pursuing excellence while developing the whole person based on the values Jesus lived and taught.
The Queensland Presentation Congregation transferred canonical governance of St Rita's College to Mercy Partners in May 2014.
