Stewards of Mercy Partners
Mercy Partners operates independently from the individual religious institutes that have transferred their ministries into our care. But the leaders of those institutes continue to play an important role as Stewards of Mercy Partners.
Role of the stewards
A Mercy Partners Steward has a special role. A Steward is a wise person who sits apart from the day-to-day operation of the organisation but can be turned to at any time for guidance and support.
The most significant duties are to appoint a majority of the Mercy Partners Council, approve any changes to the constitution and to approve the annual report to the Holy See. The Stewards meet with Council at least twice a year to consider reports from the Council, provide advice and encouragement.
The current stewards represent the Institute of the Sisters of Mercy of Australia and Papua New Guinea, the Sisters of Mercy Brisbane Congregation, the Presentation Sisters of Queensland and the Missionary Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception.
The nominated Steward representatives are:
- Sr Eveline Crotty rsm (Chairperson, Mercy Partners Stewards)
- Sr Catherine Reuter rsm
- Sr Kathleen Tynan pbvm
- Sr Catherine White mfic
As other religious congregations transfer their ministries to Mercy Partners, they may also apply to the Council to become stewards.
